Client

Quality Engineering Design LTD

Location

Hyde, UK

Project Type

Residential

The Rowbotham Street development in Hyde is a residential regeneration scheme that transformed a former brownfield builders’ yard into a high-quality new neighbourhood within the Gee Cross area. The project delivered modern family housing in a sustainable location, helping to revitalise an underused site while complementing the established residential character of the surrounding community.

Strategic Approach

The scheme was carefully designed to maximise the potential of a constrained urban site while responding sensitively to neighbouring homes and the wider streetscape. Located on the former Armitage site off Rowbotham Street, the development focused on delivering attractive, energy-efficient homes with strong placemaking principles and high-quality landscaping. The wider strategy supported local regeneration objectives by bringing a vacant brownfield site back into productive long-term use and providing much-needed housing within an accessible residential area close to local amenities and transport connections.

Results and Effect

The completed development has created a well-integrated residential community that contributes positively to the ongoing regeneration of Hyde and Gee Cross. The project successfully transformed a previously underutilised site into a desirable housing development, improving the appearance and functionality of the area while supporting local housing demand. The scheme also attracted regional investment support through the Greater Manchester Housing Investment Loans Fund, reinforcing its role in delivering sustainable housing growth within the borough.
